Homeownership

Not only was Audrey Richards a superstar in the FSS program, she put herself in a position to build a brand new home for her and her family.

Shawn Kemp saw this neighborhood and decided he would make this his home. Thanks to his hard work and his homeownership voucher, his dream of homeownership came true!

Leatra Scott enrolled in the Public Housing FSS program and in three short years later, she got the keys to her new home!" The FSS Program made my dreams a reality! The way the program is set up, effectively helps potential Homeowners prepare and successful transition into being a Homeowner. I'm forever grateful for my Case Manager, she is the best!"

Jenelle Ingle worked so hard to move from a part-time employee to full-time employee she actually graduated earlier than expected. Along with over $12,000 at graduation and a strong credit score, she was able to successfully move to homeownership.

Sherry Whitmer, senior citizen, purchased her first home with the use of her homeownership voucher. Way to go Sherry!

Nothing could keep Taylor Fields from obtaining her goal of homeownership. Full completion of the FSS program awarded her with over $23,000 to put towards her new home!

Bradley does not let his autism stop him from living a normal life, he overcomes challenges on a daily basis. One of his largest goals in life was to own a home, which he was able to accomplish with the help of the FSS Program. Way to go Bradley!

Ms. Penny Brown enrolled in the FSS program on October 1, 2018. Her goals included Credit Repair/Budgeting, Maintaining Employment, and becoming Mortgage Ready. Penny has successfully retained employment with Bridges. She completed her Credit Repair/Budgeting and Be Mortgage Ready goals September 8, 2022. Penny has also graduated from Indiana University South Bend on July 15, 2021, with a certificate as a Pharmacy Technician. In addition, Penny has built wealth by accumulating an escrow saving to over $11,000.

Congratulations to Valerie Clason who graduated from the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program on September 30, 2021. Valerie entered the FSS program October 2016. Valerie's goals included employment, Credit Repair/Budgeting, and Be Mortgage Ready. Early September 2021 Valerie reached her goals, successfully graduated the FSS program with an escrow savings of over $4500 and has been selected as a candidate for building a home through Habitat for Humanity.

FSS Graduates

Cheryl Ross gained full-time employment and was so successful that she completed the program in half the time as most and is now self-sufficient.

This is Sadie Love, despite the challenges life has given her she remains determined and upbeat. She was determined to graduate from the FSS program and did so by the end of her five year contract. #GoalsAccomplished

"The FSS program respected where I was at in my life and helped me to obtain growth in a direction I was eager for ,and at a pace I was comfortable with. Education was a top goal for Mindi Totter and by the end of her contract she had obtained a Bachelors Degree from Indiana University. All the while repairing her credit and working full-time and maintaining a family. Mindi's accomplishments can be yours as well!

Katrina Lewis and Cory Pringle achieved a household income that allowed them to graduate early with a check of over $18,000. Congratulations Katrina and Cory!

Melissa Barker and her children have made it through many struggles over the past five years while being part of the FSS program. But making it to the end and seeing all the accomplishment as well was rewarding.

Iesha Moore has been a dedicated FSS Participant of EHA and student at Horizon Education Center, where she has achieved many goals and successes.

Advanced employment opportunities allowed Robert McClam to graduate by exceeding income limits. He will use his graduation funds as his emergency savings.

Jessica Wallace has graduated from the FSS program with $3,023.50 that she plans to use as her emergency fund. She is in the process of Home ownership with LaCasa and intends to purchase in the next 3-4 months. During her time on the program she has maintained employment, built credit and saved for home ownership with LaCasa. We are very proud of her accomplishments.
